MENS SECTION REPORTS
July 2011
SCRATCH TEAM: GARY NASH
I am pleased to report that the Scratch team won their 3rd fixture of the season beating Welwyn garden city 9-3.
TIGERS TEAM: RICHARD MURRAY
In July the Tigers have beaten Old Fold Manor 3-2 away and beaten Harpenden Common 3-2 at home and we are currently still top of the league. We also won 3-2 in an away friendly atPortersPark.
FOXES TEAM:CHRIS CASSERLY
6th July Brookmans Park away – Lost 0.5 – 5.5 – One off the finest courses the foxes had a pleasure to play on.
13th July Northwood home – Lost 2.5 – 3.5
18th July Porters Park away ( rescheduled to 24th Aug)
21st July Verulam away – Cancelled
28th July Ashford Manor away – Draw 3.0 each
We have managed to get a full team for each fixture despite the holiday season and there seems to be plenty of enthusiasm from members for the foxes section. Both visitors and our own foxes enjoy the golf and the social side of these fixtures immensely. The foxes festival was very well attended and a very successful event despite the inclement weather.
Sudbury Hill has invited the Foxes to play at Sudbury to reciprocate the hospitality after the Foxes Invitation.
RABBITS TEAM: RAY HAYNES
We have played two of the three schedule matches winning 3 1/2 to 2 1.2 at Stanmore. This is a very good result as we rarely win at Stanmore. Our home match against Sandy Lodge was halved 3-3 exactly the same result as the earlier away match. Our final monthly match takes place on 26 July and will be captained by Ian Buchanan. Six players represented Batchworth at the Aldenham Invitation and Ray Haynes’s team finished in second place, just one point behind the winners. We have a team of two contesting the Grimsdyke Invitation on 25 July. It does not look likely that our match atSudbury, lost due to inclement weather, can be rescheduled as theSudburycourse is too heavily booked. Our match play competition is nearly the semi-final stage with three players already winning through. We have four matches arranged for August, three at home and one away.
